After a wonderful winter tour in Germany, Sofia is thrilled to be coming back to the USA to share intimate evenings of guitar, songs, and stories for 37 shows across 9 states, and the Bootleg gets to have one of those very special evenings.
Her new winter album Wrapped in Paper, highlighted by The New York Times, just sailed in as the 3rd most played album on Folk radio Charts USA, with Sofia as 3rd most played artist and the single “Let Peace be the Song” as no 7!
Sofia played the Bootleg in September 2023 and absolutely captivated. A solo artist who through soudscaping creates sublime live harmonies with herself. . . yes, you read that right. . .Creates music that is deeply personal yet universal, touching on themes of immigration, displacement, war, and hope. Each song is a bridge, an invitation to step into someone else’s world and feel their joys, struggles, and dreams. Sofia doesn’t just perform—she listens, reflects, and invites her audience to join her in the conversation, making every show feel intimate and alive. We felt all of that.
Primarily a live artist, Talvik has taken her music across Europe and through 49 U.S. states, riding in her 1989 Winnebago Warrior with her husband at the wheel, digging deep into the American sound and channeling it through her Nordic roots to create a singular brand of Americana. Talvik releases all of her music on Makaki Music, a record label she started early in her career to maintain full control over her own recordings. While her Swedish roots serve as the basis for her songwriting, she often calls upon her many journeys and experiences for inspiration, especially the uniquely American archetype of roaming the endless highway.
You guys know how I love the troubadours. Oh, and her merch includes these fantastic hats she she has embellished to turn each one into a unique piece of art. You won’t be surprised to know I bought one and of all the hats I own, it receives the most compliments. Bring your pocketbook hat lovers. Hahaha
“A keen songwriter, the indie folk artist crafts beautiful soundscapes of subtle, rootsy timbres that place the pristine storyteller’s voice at their center. In this case of developing savvy arrangements that highlight her haunting vocals, the roots music that Talvik develops is of a similar tapestry to Joni Mitchell, tapping into that same knack for soul-stirring clarity and resonance. Between, however, is something of a different nature. Open-air production sets the scene for an evocative and atmospheric release from the Swedish folk artist.” – PopMatters
